The story
The 4020 replaced the 4010, the tractor that launched John Deere's 'New Generation' and ended its famous two-cylinder era. It added more power, heavier rear axles and, from 1965, a differential lock, while keeping the 4010's comfortable, well-designed operator platform.
The optional single-lever Power Shift let farmers change gear on the move without using the clutch. It sold in huge numbers through the 1960s and became one of the best-known row-crop tractors ever built.
Many are still working on farms today and they remain highly sought after by collectors.
No John Deere 4020 listings yet. Dealers and private sellers will be able to list them here soon.
